MEDIEVAL SCANDINAVIA

One of the main research areas of PHI is Medieval Scandinavia, which covers both Old Norse literature and other literary and cultural traditions in Scandinavia from the Viking era until early modern times.

Currently, the following projects and activites at PHI belong to this research area:

  • Barlaam and Josaphat (Barlaams saga ok Jósafats)

  • Library of Old Norse

For more information about these and other projects, go to the PHI project page, seminar page and course page

The Norwegian Institute of Philology will publish more comprehensive information about this research area in due course.

As an independent academic institution, PHI relies on grants and donations to develop further. If you wish to support PHI, you can give a donation – or express your moral support by liking and sharing our posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
